This guide shows you how to create shareable links to video episodes on your Wistia account. Links are the quickest way to post across a wide variety of social media platforms.
Note: Another effective way to share your videos online is to upload them directly to your social media platform of choice. For more information, see our guide to posting videos natively to Facebook.
Linking to an Individual Episode
From the Channel Page, click on the episode you wish to link to. This takes you to the Episode Page.
From the Episode Page, in the sidebar to the left of your screen, click on Share.
Select your preferred Share Link Settings:
- Link Destination: Choosing Link to media within Channel shares the episode with viewers and gives them the ability to browse other It’s a Money Thing episodes on your Channel. Choosing Link to media only shares the specific episode only.
- Starting Time: If you wish to link to a specific time within the shared episode, select the checkbox next to Link to a specific time. Click on the 0:00 timecode to edit the starting time.
Click on the Link icon to copy the episode link to your clipboard. The link is now ready to paste into your next status update or blog post.
Sharing Video Links on Facebook
Each social media platform interprets Wistia links differently. On Facebook, pasting a Wistia link within a status update creates a thumbnail when it is posted (see image below). Clicking on the thumbnail sends viewers to a Wistia webpage featuring your shared episode.
Note: When you paste a link into your status update, a thumbnail image and description will appear underneath your text. At this point, you can safely delete the link URL from your status update before posting. The link will still work (and your status update will look much neater, too!)
Sharing Video Links on Twitter
Each social media platform interprets Wistia links differently. On Twitter, pasting the Share link within a tweet creates a video preview when the tweet is posted.
Clicking on the video preview plays the video within the Twitter feed.
Clicking a second time on the URL sends the viewer to the video page on the Wistia site.
Linking to Multiple Videos
If you wish to share your entire Channel of episodes, copy and paste the Channel link provided in your initial welcome email (titled ‘Your It’s a Money Thing videos are now hosted on Wistia”). For more information, see Working with Your Wistia Channel.
Note: Having trouble locating your Channel link? Send us an email at info@currencymarketing.ca and we’ll be happy to resend your Channel link and embed code.
